The Song Remembers When

Isn’t it funny how a song can take you directly to a moment? Like you are riding down the road and a tune comes on and directly you’re back in that place. I can hear certain music and immediately think of where I was and who I was with. It’s just magical actually.

These last few months I haven’t been myself. Music has been where I have turned for a lot of my healing. I had some bizarre anxiety brought on by “hormones” and with it came a lot of overthinking. I started doubting myself in all areas. I let people have power over my thoughts and honestly it almost got the best of me.

When you give people power… you are doing just that. Giving it to them. I realize I’ve done this a lot but I forgot who is ultimately in control. I had a lady who stopped coming to me. You think… big deal and it happens all the time as a stylist but she was mean. She made a people pleaser go over the edge. I had to circle back to what my friend Donny always said.. “When one leaves, God will put three back in your chair.” Ok, it took me a while to hear that. God had to show me in other areas. He had to make me see that if I never did hair again and started slinging burgers I’d be ok. I had to remember my worth. I had to remember my song.

I started thinking what’s your song. Do you hear a song and think of someone? I asked Callie about numerous people and each one had a song. I remember when I was little my Granny Gert had some depression issues. It got better as I got older.. I assume bc of medicine but when she was staying with us she had been in her bed for a lot of days. I decided to go sing to her a song we always sang together. It wasn’t long after she was up and at it. Now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt it was Jesus through that song. I realized these last few months that is my song too. “Because he lives… I can face tomorrow. Because he lives. All fear is gone. Because I know he holds the future and life is worth the living just because he lives.” I hope you know your song. I hope you find your worth in Him. Don’t be discouraged because of people or things. God is with you and He will show up in the sweet notes or flowers people bring you. He shows up on a sweet text or even a card. He’ll use a stranger to tell you how worthy you are and He sees your worth way more than you do. You can have all the riches in the world but if you don’t have peace and Him… you don’t have anything. Ok, now I challenge you to find your song. If someone you know is struggling, lend it to them. Let it be theirs too. God is in the small moments and He’s also in the songs.❤️
